Roman Reigns’ announcement that he is taking time away from WWE in order to focus on his health after his leukemia had resurfaced was an announcement that rocked the pro wrestling world and pop culture in general. After all, Reigns was WWE’s biggest star and earmarked to lead the company for years to come.
Naturally, WWE had him scheduled to be in a huge match at next year’s WrestleMania in New Jersey — but they didn’t know who it would have been against yet.
We’ve heard some pretty big names that were rumored to face off against Reigns from either of his Shield brothers to even his cousin The Rock — but now WWE will obviously need to come up with a different plan. Only time will tell which direction WWE books the Road To WrestleMania, but since the Royal Rumble is widely thought of as the start of that road, they need to get to work quickly on something.
Dave Meltzer was asked on Twitter about WWE’s WrestleMania plans for Roman Reigns where he confirmed that WWE didn’t have it nailed down 100% which is much different than his match against Brock Lesnar which was set before WrestleMania 33 even kicked off.
Hopefully, Reigns will be able to return soon after he beats leukemia once again — but for now it’s back to the drawing board for WWE as they stack The Grandest Stage Of Them All for 2019.
