WWE has booked themselves into a bit of a corner with the Crown Jewel event. They have put in a lot of work, but the event might get overwhelmed due to the extreme pressure to cancel and pull out of their deal with Saudi Arabia.
They’re apparently locked into this new deal for the next 10 years, but because of all the controversy compounded by the fact that John Cena has already said he’s not going and WWE Creative knows this — add in the fact that so many other Superstars also don’t want to go, and you’ve got a problem.
Robbie Fox from Barstool Sports that WWE is currently “frantically scouting locations to move Crown Jewel.” Nothing is definite yet, but they have a huge event booked complete with a match that will determine who the newest Universal Champion is after Roman Reigns had to drop his title due to leukemia.
At this point, the location and even date are said to be in question. We will let you know as soon as we hear anything, but as Bryan Alvarez revealed during Wrestling Observer Live, WWE has apparently already told the Saudis that the Crown Jewel event might not take place in Saudi Arabia which is why tickets didn’t go on sale last Friday.
