WWE has been getting a lot of flak recently for being in a decade-long deal with the Saudi Arabian government. After the reported murder of a Washington Post journalist, there are plenty of enraged people at this situation and they don’t like the fact that WWE Crown Jewel still appears to be a go.
But as Cathy Kelley plugged Crown Jewel at part of WWE Now, as you can see from the clip below the location of the show wasn’t mentioned. It was only mentioned that it will be HBK’s first match since 2010. This is very uncommon seeing how they plugged the Greatest Royal Rumble’s location every chance they could get.
On another note, WWE hasn’t mentioned Saudi Arabia on their social media accounts either. We previously reported that WWE was having a meeting to consider the other options in the Crown Jewel dilemma and they have also received some pressure from US politicians as well to pull out of the show.
Only time will tell what they decide to do, after all, as Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio pulling out of this deal could not only affect Crown Jewel but the next 10 years of projected revenue for WWE and that is something they can’t have. Because their stock prices could take a huge tumble after they’ve been so good for a while.
WWE is a business and money is how you keep a business running but maybe WWE might need to swallow a really hard fact in this instance that they might not need this deal.
