WWE has been under quite a bit of fire recently and all sides have been weighing in on a debate that we didn’t think we would ever really have. But due to recent controversies in Saudi Arabia stemming from the reported murder of a Washington Post journalist at the hands of the Saudi Arabian government, it seems that WWE has taken a step to distance themselves from the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.
Of course, this could have ramifications that go beyond pro wrestling, but we have previously reported how WWE has removed any mention of Saudi Arabia from their website, social media, and they even removed the ticket sales option for the show.
The idea is being thrown out there and has been picked up by the Daily Beast that WWE could simply extend their UK tour in early November and host Crown Jewel in Manchester on November 4th. It was noted that the venue doesn’t have an event scheduled on that day either.
Triple H has a big announcement for the audience at today’s NXT UK television tapings, so only time will tell what he ends up breaking at the show. After all, the United Kingdom audience would greatly approve of having their first pay-per-view in 26 years. It would also make sense for Crown Jewel to take place in England as well because their Queen wears a crown too.
What do you think WWE will do with the Crown Jewel event? They’ve already sunk a lot of time into promoting some big-time matches. But the lasting effects on pulling out of a deal with Saudi Arabia like this due to public criticism might result in something much bigger. After all, they are still one of the United States’ biggest allies.
