Impact Wrestling is really needing star power at this point. They are slipping so much in the television ratings that Pop TV took them out of prime time in spite of a roster heavy with talent. Unfortunately, there aren’t as many of the “big draws” however, Impact Wrestling has one big name in mind in Chris Jericho.
Jericho is friendly with Impact Wrestling management and shares a “Winnipeg Connection” with several prominent members of the management team as well. He was also said to be a huge reason why Don Callis and Scott D’Amore got the jobs they currently have.
Our sources have confirmed with us that Impact Wrestling wants to sign Jericho to a short-term deal which would allow him to pretty much carry on as usual as long as he can make 6 dates for Impact Wrestling. Therefore, he would still be permitted to work NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom shows as well as tour with Fozzy.
Only time will tell if Y2J will take the deal, but it might be a very attractive offer since they aren’t asking too much of him except for a handful of dates with this deal. At this point, there doesn’t seem to be any discussion with WWE and Jericho for a return but you never know if these new developments could change that. However, Jericho isn’t interested in returning to an exclusive deal that would require him to work too much seeing how he has so many other commitments at this point.
