Dean Ambrose is in an interesting place right now. It appears as though the Dogs Of War might have gotten under his skin by bringing attention to the fact that he is the only member of The Shield without a title like they forget all those months he was the only member holding a title when he was the US Champion during The Hounds Of Justice’s first run.
It’s been noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and elsewhere that the original plan for Ambrose was to turn heel at or around the Road To WrestleMania 34 but he was injured and taken out of action. Therefore he came back as a babyface because that’s the way he went out of action.
But it looks like a heel turn is being teased for Ambrose this time and it seems serious. However, WWE might be implementing a bit of a slower build to this eventual change in character as Mike Johnson noted on PW Insider Elite‘s audio update.
“I understand why they’re going to continue to tease it. They want to build to either Australia or Survivor Series or where ever they’re building for this. But I feel like they’re playing catch-up instead of definitively laying out the story for everyone else to follow and that’s not a good sign in my opinion.”
Therefore it looks like Dean Ambrose’s heel turn tease will eventually turn into something because that was the initial plan. After all, if all went according to plan, Ambrose might be one of the biggest bad guys on Raw right now.
