Lita is set to return to action in a singles match at WWE Evolution against Mickie James. She’s obviously looking forward to the night on October 28th, but it did seem surreal for a bit.
The WWE Hall Of Famer recently spoke to Sun Sports about several topics including the upcoming Evolution pay-per-view, after all, that should get a good amount of attention. Lita said she was simply asked by WWE if she would be interested in helping out with the event and low-and-behold she ended up on the card unbeknownst to her until everyone else saw the news.
“We were told a while ago that there was going to be an all-women pay-per-view and they were still getting it together, but they asked if I’d be interested in being a part of it in some capacity – and I told them to count me in. That’s pretty much all the conversation was.”
“I didn’t know if I’d be doing commentary or even just being invited to attend to support the women. And then I found out when you all did that Mickie James would be my opponent and I would not just be a part of Evolution but I’d actually be in the ring. That’s when you just hold your breath and go with it.”
Lita was asked if she has spoken to her Evolution opponent Mickie James yet and she said that they have spoken about the match, but it did take some time to really sink in first.
“I didn’t speak with Mickie instantly. The next day after the announcement I was like ‘is that real?’ I had to let it sink in and process it. And the next morning I was like ‘I’ve got this, this is going to be rad.’ That’s when I was on the phone to Mickie.”
It’s interesting that WWE would book Lita in a match without making sure she meant that she was okay to work a match, but that’s certainly a great way to keep a lid on the news breaking before WWE wants to release it.
