Cody Rhodes hasn’t used his father’s last name while wrestling since leaving WWE. But The American Nightmare didn’t seem to have a problem making a huge name for himself anyway.
This subject has bee approached before, but according to Cody, he can use the Rhodes last name without any problems. The issue is that he might not want to. After all, it was thought that WWE could be stopping him from being Cody Rhodes on any other broadcasted show because he was only known as that in WWE which is why Brandi can be a Rhodes outside WWE because she was known as “Eden” while in WWE.
But according to Cody, he can use the last name his father wrestled under, but he just prefers “Cody” at this point.
It’s interesting how Cody said that it doesn’t matter if he’s wrestling for ROH, WWE, NJPW, or anywhere. Making sure WWE was in between those other two companies was a smart move. After all, in a couple short months, Cody and The Young Bucks might have a very important decision to make.
But they’ve already said that no matter what they decide, the three along with Adam Page are going to the same place wherever it might be. However, you can probably be willing to bet that if Cody ends up in WWE once again you can just keep using his first name.
