In celebration of Hispanic heritage month, WWE recently had SmackDown Live Superstar Zelina Vega sit down to discuss her hero, Rey Mysterio Jr. The manager for Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas discussed what drew her to like Mysterio and how his advice and character helped her get into the wrestling business.
You can hear her comments below:

“You know how people say like- you shouldn’t meet your heroes? I would meet Rey Mysterio over and over and over again. Rey Mysterio embodied everything that I thought a WWE Superstar should be. Somebody who defied the odds. When you think WWE Superstar, you think larger than life; these gargantuan people- but he wasn’t anything like that. He just captivated me with all of the high-flying moves. I knew the second I saw it that I wanted to learn to do that. He inspired me to actually learn some of those very moves. He made me feel comfortable about my size and you have to be about owning that. He was constantly telling me ‘don’t let people tell you differently, be the badass that you are and go out there and give it your all.’ He was a Champion- and if he can be a Champion, what is stopping me from going for the Championship as well. Rey has definitely shown people that there is nothing that can stop you if you just continue to push through.”
