Elias didn’t do much in NXT before he was called up to the main roster. In fact, some people who just watch TakeOver shows might not have even realized he was in the WWE Performance Center at all.
Elias went back to the WWE PC recently for a WWE 2K19 event where he spoke to Cultaholic about his career and why he believes he received the big push to Raw seemingly out of nowhere.
“It’s hard to say, I got called up quick. It seemed like the right time for me is all I can say. The reason? I think it’s obvious now you watch Monday Night Raw and see the way people react. The way the world reacts to Elias it’s like, ‘we have him in NXT that’s awesome, that’s great NXT is awesome. Let’s put him on a global stage, let’s let the world see what Elias has.’ To me, it’s an easy decision to put Elias on Monday Night Raw.”
He said that NXT is more of a wrestling-based show and there wasn’t much time for him to do his thing there. The idea was to take the little segments of the Elias character we saw in NXT and then lengthen his segments on Raw and let him expand, tell stories, and sing some songs.
Only time will tell how far Elias will go in WWE, but he’s certainly off to a great start so far as one of the most popular heels on Monday night.
