UFC welterweight Neil Magny is ready to prove himself to the world when the UFC heads to Argentina for the first time ever on November 17th.
The 31 year old, who is set to face off against Santiago Ponzinibbio in Buenos Aires, will be in the main event slot against the hometown favourite – but as we know, he’s not all that concerned with being the underdog.
Magny, who holds the joint record for the most UFC victories in a calendar year, is currently riding a two-fight win streak heading into a fight that could launch him one step closer towards a title shot that many would’ve thought was pretty unlikely just a year ago.
Alas, this isn’t going to be a walk in the park for him as he goes one on one with a guy that is currently on a six fight win streak. Both Magny and Ponzinibbio haven’t really been spoken about too much in the realms of their division, which is a shame, because both guys are capable of putting on one hell of a show.
That feels like what we’re going to get in this encounter too, with both possessing the ability to come forward and really challenge the other both on the feet and on the ground.
Santiago will have the pressure of competing in front of his home fans, and if Magny can capitalise on that, then we could be looking at a Fight of the Year contender between two of the more underappreciated fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
