UFC welterweight contender Darren Till has revealed that he currently weighs 182 pounds ahead of the official weigh-ins which are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The Gorilla made the ‘announcement’ of sorts last night after the open workouts, with many fans and media members wondering whether or not he’s going to be able to make the necessary 170 championship weight.
Till will challenge Tyron Woodley for the Welterweight Championship at UFC 228 this weekend in Dallas, Texas, and fans are split down the middle regarding who will come out on top. Woodley has been a solid champion since capturing the title from Robbie Lawler, but Till is unbeaten inside the cage and has that Conor McGregor aura of being able to make you believe anything he says.
Woodley hasn’t fought for over a year since successfully defending his belt against Demian Maia, and in that time, Darren Till has defeated Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson to put himself in pole position for a shot at the strap.
Alas, one of the main reasons why people are so worried about his weight is because of what happened prior to his fight against Wonderboy, when he failed to make weight ahead of UFC Liverpool in his hometown.
Then, a video was released that showed the trials and tribulations Till went through in order to try and reach the necessary mark. Till wound up winning via decision on the night, but the most important thing tomorrow will be that he doesn’t take such a dangerous risk again.
