WWE superstar Maria Kanellis has caused some controversy on social media by suggesting that the Divas Championship should return.
Kanellis, 36, has been away from WWE for over a year now after giving birth and is currently dealing with a wrist injury that put her comeback on hold. Alas, it seems as if she’s keeping busy on Twitter, causing something of a small uproar with some comments about the Divas title.
As we all know the championship in question was highly ridiculed throughout its run, not only for the design but because of what it represented. Now that the current titles look more professional in the eyes of most fans, it seems as if a lot of people aren’t particularly interested in seeing the ‘butterfly belt make a return.
A handful of fans have agreed with Maria, especially with her point regarding how many titles should be made available to the female superstars of WWE. One of the reasons that Kanellis probably feels so strongly about this is because she was pretty much developed in that era.
Still, it seems as if she’s eager to prove that she has what it takes to hang with some of the girls currently competing, despite the fact that she was predominantly used as a valet before she left on maternity leave.
Maria has noted in the past that she wants to return to the squared circle in time for the WWE Evolution event, meaning that it shouldn’t be too long until we see her back on WWE television.
