The Architect may have a showdown with Dolph Ziggler this Sunday at SummerSlam, but his focus is always on the granddaddy of them all, WrestleMania. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Rollins was asked how he feels about the rumored Roman Reigns versus the Rock as a headliner for big show at MetLife Stadium next April. Rollins wasn’t shy about giving his honest opinion on the matter:
I’d like it to be Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins.
That’s cool, too. Don’t get me wrong. I love Rocky. I think he’s great. Love everything he’s done for this business. But my gut, my first instinct, says we don’t need him. We don’t need him. If we’re not the guys who can main event WrestleMania, then how are we ever gonna be The Rock? How are we gonna be Stone Cold Steve Austin? We can’t hold onto these guys forever. We just can’t. To me, let’s do Seth Rollins-Roman Reigns before we do Seth Rollins-The Rock. That’s me.
Rollins does bring up a solid point, however it may be too good to pass up a showdown with the Brahma Bull and the Big Dog considering the little history the two have in a WWE ring. On the other hand, Rollins is the type of guy who is ready to carry the WWE into its next phase of success.
Hopefully he’s doing that with the Intercontinental title around his waist come Sunday.
