Rising UFC Heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes could have won the award for most polite and respectful call out of the year with his tweet directed at recently dethroned UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic.
Blaydes, who is on a six fight undefeated streak with wins over legends such as Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem, referenced the time when he was a part of Miocic’s training camp five years ago and even thanked the former Champion for all he taught him in his call out.
Blaydes also earmarked the UFC Denver card on November 10, headlined by the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung and Frankie Edgar, as a potential date for the fight.
Miocic, on the other hand, has been lobbying for an immediate rematch with Daniel Cormier following his UFC 226 knockout loss. Cormier, who is slated to face Brock Lesnar in early 2019 pending a clean chit for the WWE Universal Champion from USADA, also affirmed that should the WWE Superstar fail any of his USADA tests in the lead up to their proposed bout, he would automatically give Miocic the rematch.
In this climate, it would be interesting to see who the UFC matches Stipe Miocic up with.
