In a recent interview with Sky Sports, WWE’s Stephanie McMahon spoke about the possibility of Women’s Tag Team Championships being introduced to the main roster.
Many fans were speculating that her ‘historic announcement’ that the company had been building towards last night would be the addition of women’s tag titles, although as we now know, she was formally announcing the upcoming WWE Evolution show which will be an all-female event.
McMahon, who has only made sporadic appearances on WWE television in the last few years in comparison to her time with The Authority, made the revelation in front of the entire roster who were stood on the stage throughout.
While this is certainly an exciting development for the future of women’s wrestling, it seems as if there are no immediate plans for the women’s tag titles to be introduced.
On women’s tag titles:
Not quite yet but that’s absolutely something we’ve heard loud and clear from our fan base and it’s something we’re keen on implementing as soon as we are able to.
On possibly wrestling at Evolution:
That’s yet to be determined, we want to make sure our superstars really get the spotlight they deserve but if it makes sense then absolutely. But that’s yet to be determined.
Stephanie’s last match in WWE came back at WrestleMania 34 when she teamed with husband Triple H in a losing effort against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey. Following this latest quote where she seems to indicate that wrestling at Evolution is a possibility, the rumour mill can now ensue regarding who she may end up facing off against.
