Enhancement Talents on RAW Named for Inside Joke

This week on Raw, Sasha Banks and Bayley were best friends again and faces off against an enhancement talent team of Samantha Simon and Karen Lundy in a squash match.

Simon and Lundy didn’t win at all and if some people thought this match was a joke then there was a reason for that. Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the names WWE gave these jobbers was actually because there was a bigger inside joke that they wanted to play backstage in WWE.

“So Samantha Simon is a spoof on Dean Malenko because Malenko’s real name is Dean Simon and Karen Lundy is a spoof of Arn Anderson who’s real name is Marty Lundy. So that’s where they got those names.”

It looks like they didn’t have to reach very far to figure out what to name the female jobbers for Boss and Hugger’s new intense friendship.
