At UFC 226, Daniel Cormier was victorious in capturing the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Stipe Miocic. After the bout, Lesnar was invited by Cormier to the ring. From here, the current WWE Universal Champion pushed the new Champion to the ground.
Having entered the USADA testing pool earlier this month, Lesnar will be eligible to fight as early as January 2019. Many people are of the belief that a match between Cormier and Lesnar is absolutely bound to happen- despite Miocic demanding a rematch against the Champion.
Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture had the opportunity to interview the Champion at the fourth annual ESPN Sports Humanitarian Awards. While on the red carpet, Cormier confirmed that he and former WWE Intercontinental Championship Seth Rollins are friends.
In fact, Cormier explains to Salcedo that he had a text message from Rollins after he won the Championship, telling the double-Champion to kick the ass of ‘The Beast Incarnate.’
“Maybe that’s why he’s so mad at me; because I’m friends with Seth Rollins. I got a text message from Seth right after the fight. He goes ‘Congratulations, now go kick Brock’s ass.’ That is what I’m gonna do.”
In addition to this, Cormier claims he felt like he had a WrestleMania moment at UFC 226. He found it “awesome.” The fight was great and capturing the second Championship was another huge moment for him.
