Robert Whittaker Out of Action Until Next Year

Robert Whittaker mentioned to Ariel Helwani this past Monday that he will not be able to have his next defense against Kelvin Gastelum until sometime in 2019 after sustaining a hand injury in his split-decision victory over Yoel Romero at UFC 225.

“I haven’t even started the rehab process yet. Just more letting it heal first before I can implement that. They put a plate and some screws in (on the right hand). Realistically I’m looking at February next year.”

Whittaker will be looking to earn his 10th straight victory when he faces Gastelum upon his return.
