Paul Heyman is a veteran in the wrestling business. Despite not working as a wrestler, Heyman was the former owner of ECW and head writer over on SmackDown Live alongside the obvious association with Superstars like the current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.
In the past, there have been reports suggesting Heyman would be working backstage in a deeper role. If the exclusive article released by Fightful is to be believed, those reports may have just been confirmed.
According to Fightful, Heyman was placed on the production script for RAW as contributing to multiple segments on the show. Alongside other writers such as Ryan Ward, Heyman’s name was written down for the opening segment to RAW. This was the segment between Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns.
In addition, his name is written down for the ‘live shot’ during segment 8, where Bobby Lashley spoke about his Extreme Rules pay-per-view match against Reigns this weekend. This took place after the Bo Dallas vs. Matt Hardy match.
Heyman was listed under “road” which signifies a road writer. This would lead us to believe Heyman was backstage during the show to help produce the segments mentioned above. A name was also written under “home.” Through a source, Fightful was able to clarify what this meant.
“Writers at home will be sent assignments to write scripts for an interview or backstage altercation and then fire it back to their point person in the trenches.”
Heyman refused to comment when asked about the matter, and WWE only wanted to ask questions as opposed to answering the question. There is some talk of an error possibly taking place, but we have no further confirmation on the validity of that.
