Over the past few years, WWE has created numerous working relationships with wrestling companies over the world. As they continue to do to so, one report by Slice Wrestling seems to indicate WWE may be intending on purchasing one of the companies they work with.
While at this time we can only take the report with a grain of salt, Slice Wrestling claims WWE are interested in purchasing EVOLVE. If this is true, no deal has seemingly been made yet. If they do, however, it is expected EVOLVE will air on the WWE Network.
This goes back to the ideas WWE have presented in online surveys in the past few years. They have asked fans what specific content they would like to see on the WWE Network, naming promotions that they have working relationships with.
Slice explains that the purchase would not only signify EVOLVE’s presence on the WWE Network, but also additional shows from the WWN library. WWN, of course, is the parent company for EVOLVE.
Gabe Sapolsky is the owner of EVOLVE and works with Triple H down in NXT to produce content for television. This relationship would reportedly develop further if EVOLVE does head to the Network.
The report by Slice also notes that EVOLVE would likely be a replacement for NXT if the developmental promotion does move to FOX alongside SmackDown Live next year.
As for the EVOLVE roster, it is being noted that the majority of wrestlers still working those shows will continue to do so. Talent like Austin Theory, Joey Janela, Walter and Matt Riddle would all find a home on the WWE Network.
We imagine talent with EVOLVE will not be signed to a WWE contract, meaning that they would not be lined up for any main roster debut unless WWE offers the wrestler a contract for that.
