The men’s Money In The Bank ladder match had a very interesting conclusion, as Braun Strowman emerged as the Monster In The Bank. Through the match, all other competitors put up an impressive fight in an effort to keep the beast that is Strowman down. Kevin Owens, however, took the brunt of the punishment by “The Monster Among Men.”
With help from SmackDown Live Superstars Samoa Joe and Rusev, Owens climbed the tallest ladder in the arena in preparation for either a Frog Splash or Senton off onto Strowman, who was being held down on a table.
Unfortunately for the three Superstars, Strowman managed to escape. This led to Owens being forced off the top of the ladder, falling 20-plus-feet down onto a table. This, by far, was the largest bump of the night and the one big spot remembered by everyone.
In the aftermath of the attack, Owens has spoken to NoDQ where he explained how taking the bump felt and how he has been healing since it happened.
“I don’t know how well it can go when you get thrown off a 20-foot ladder. I’m definitely feeling it; it was an uneasy morning [the next day]. It’s not part of the risks we take as wrestlers, but stuff like that doesn’t happen every night obviously.”
“But when you’ve got these ladder matches there are high stakes, and everybody’s trying to make a name for themselves. Everybody wants to get the MITB contract; that usually means at some point they will become champion.”
“That’s a big deal; that’s what everybody strives for. I’m a professional, and I get used to stuff like that, but I never experienced what I did last night. But I’ll be ready to go before you know it.”
Strowman and Owens appear to be feuding based off what transpired earlier this week on RAW. This may result in a match between the two at Extreme Rules. It is also worth noting that a feud between Roman Reigns and Owens is being talked about for Hell In A Cell later this year, though this is obviously subject to change.
