X-Pac opens today’s show by speaking about the death of Leon “Vader” White. This news struck him hard and he says that it really sucks. He says that Vader was the World Champion for 3 different companies at the same time at one point, and he was a multiple time IWGP Champion in Japan. He was a true star around the world and he was simply “The Man”.
He goes on to say that White was a true athlete, and for a guy as big as he was he never blew up in the ring. He always had pleasant experiences with White, and he thought White was a truly wonderful guy. It’s really sad in X-Pac’s opinion that White wasn’t inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before he died, especially given the health issues he had over the last few years and how openly he spoke about wanting to be inducted into the Hall.
X-Pac speaks about Big Cass’ release from WWE. He says that Big Cass’ decision to go directly against Vince McMahon’s orders on a recent episode of Smackdown probably put him in the dog house. Once you’re in the dog house, it’s awful easy to develop a poor attitude. From everything that X-Pac has heard, it didn’t surprise him to see Cass released.
He adds that there are plenty of other places for wrestlers to work these days, and it wouldn’t surprise him to see Cass pop up in another promotion sooner rather than later. It also wouldn’t surprise him if Cass teamed back up with Enzo Amore on the indie scene. There might be some friction between these two guys, but they should be able to put their differences aside in order to make some money.
X-Pac discusses last Saturday’s NXT Takeover event. He thought the opening match of the night was tremendous, but somehow every match on the card was seemingly able to follow the match prior. Velveteen Dream and Ricochet followed the opening tag match wonderfully, and although he was concerned about Shayna Baszler and Nikki Cross’ ability to keep the momentum rolling, they proved him wrong with a fantastic match.
He also enjoyed the NXT Title match between Aleister Black and Lars Sullivan. Regarding the botched spot where Black completely missed with his spin kick, X-Pac says that shit happens sometimes. He actually thought this was the main event of the show for a while until he remembered that the Gargano/Ciampa match was still to come.
He thought Gargano and Ciampa told a fantastic story, and he’s fairly sure that Ciampa is the hottest heel in wrestling right now. Overall, he thought this was an amazing show.
Moving onto Money in the Bank, X-Pac praises the work of Ronda Rousey in her first singles match in WWE. He points out that she’s already very good at a lot of the details that are required from professional wrestlers. Her facial expressions were on point specifically when she was selling, and the emotion she showed during her comeback was terrific. X-Pac notes that those skills are very tough to teach, and Rousey simply has “it”.
X-Pac welcomes Kenny Omega to the show.
X-Pac says he was really impressed with how Omega and Okada laid out their most recent match. Omega points out that it was a best 2 out of 3 falls match, and they needed to tell the right story. The story also needed to embrace what they’d done in their first three matches while leaving room to do something else if a fifth match ever happens.
Omega informs that he doesn’t feel any pressure following Okada’s historic IWGP Championship run. He says he would feel pressure if he was asked to have a conventional wrestler’s Championship run, but he’s an unconventional performer, and he hopes to have a unique Title run.
Omega was recently involved in the Street Fighter video game’s World Championship, alongside WWE’s The New Day. He was quite surprised to see the amount of support that they had from WWE that day, and he thought that was very cool.
With all of the attention that Omega seems to be getting from WWE lately, X-Pac asks him if he thinks WWE wants to sign him. Omega laughs and says that we might be putting the cart before the horse, “…but there might be a chance that someone like me could make their company some money”.
X-Pac asks Omega if there are any performers that he’d love to defend his Championship against in the near future. Omega says he’d love to have a Title match with Naito as well as Tanahashi. He points out that there seems to be some professional jealousy towards him on Tanahashi’s part and they also have very different views on wrestling, but he still loves him regardless.
Omega says he was very sad to hear about the death of Leon “Vader” White. He points out that he would have loved to work with Vader if the timing would have ever worked out. He thinks they could have told a great story, focusing on the size difference between them.
That sums up this week’s episode of X-Pac 1, 2, 360. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
