As seen at Tuesday’s NXT Takeover: Chicago event, Velveteen Dream hinted that it was over for him in NXT after his loss to Ricochet.
During the mailbag segment of today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that he could see him being called up to the main roster and it wouldn’t surprise him one bit.
“He was on the list to be called up after Mania’, so I could easily see him being called up. I wouldn’t do it just yet although his charisma and working with good people — I think he should do well.”
Meltzer suggested that he could keep him down in NXT longer, despite him being able to be a big star on the main roster. Meltzer also pointed out that a majority of the call-ups are kept a secret and often times the talent doesn’t find out until the morning or weekend before.
“Again, I would want him down a little while longer. He’s clearly going to be a guy that is going to make it on the main roster and should be a big star. It wouldn’t shock me. Normally most of these call ups are kept so secretive. They normally don’t tell the talent until the morning of or the weekend. If Velveteen Dream was going to start on Monday, he’d probably be told after the show tonight.”
