Rey Mysterio’s 2018 Royal Rumble surprise appearance got a lot of WWE fans excited and then he popped up on New Japan.
Dave Meltzer was asked during Wrestling Observer Live whether fans should expect Mysterio back in WWE after his NJPW match so he could be back in time for SummerSlam when he received a pretty interesting response.
“There was no deal made as of a week ago. It certainly is something talked about. I think the general feeling was around September because he’s got commitments all Summer long he wanted to keep.”
So it looks like Rey Mysterio won’t be appearing at SummerSlam, but you can never say never in pro wrestling because anything could happen between now and then. Let’s just hope Rey Mysterio stays healthy enough to come in when the time is right.
