Why WWE Is Breaking Up Rusev Day

Rusev and Lana are in the same story on WWE television once again after being apart since coming to SmackDown Live during 2017’s Superstar Shake-Up. Now it looks like Aiden English is being moved out of the scenario to make room for her.

Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has always seen Rusev and English as a mid-level tag team. At this point, WWE isn’t going to put the SmackDown Tag Team Titles on them or they already would have done so.

Lana and Rusev have a history with each other and an obvious connection. It was noted they work better on a main event level as a team as well.

So just because Rusev Day could be breaking up doesn’t mean Rusev will suffer because he could be in line for a push, it will just have to be a heel push because dumping Aiden English will be a very bad guy thing to do.
