By next week, AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will have fought three times. At Backlash, the duo will face each other in a No Disqualification Match. Depending on the result, this could be the blow-off match for the feud. There’ll be a lot of eyes watching Nakamura v. Styles III,

Right now it could go either way, but I feel like Nakamura should be the one walking away victorious, and here’s why.

shinsuke nakamura is 0 – 3 – 1 in wwe championship matches

Right now, this may not seem like such a big deal (Kevin Owens, for example, is 0 – 3). But if WWE is serious about having Nakamura be a top player, then Backlash is the right time to crown him. If not, Shinsuke Nakamura is at risk of being seen as a “flop”, speaking in kayfabe.

It’s hard to present someone as a dangerous psychopath with such a poor track record. Think of Baron Corbin. He’s a mean and angry guy, but right now he’s 0 – 4 in WWE Championship matches. Sure, this plays into his character of “kind of a dumbass.” That’s not who Nakamura is, though. He’s a world-class athlete.

Sure, the record is kind of tainted. He lost the first two matches via cheating Indians, and then he lost his third one fair and square. Still, it’s kind of a crappy record.

shinsuke nakamura has a lot of momentum right now

Ever since Shinsuke Nakamura punched AJ Styles in the dick at Wrestlemania, he’s been on fire. It’s just been non-stop dick punching. Aside from that, Nakamura has seemingly become unhinged. He’s been dangerous. He’s no longer just the kind of weird guy who happens to be a wrestler. Now he’s full blown crazy.

Nakamura is somehow hotter than he was before Wrestlemania. He is white hot right now. Ideally, WWE would capitalize on the tidal wave of momentum that Shinsuke is riding by having him win the WWE Championship.

Sure, it would probably lead to a final rematch between Styles and Nakamura, should the challenger become the champion. I don’t think anyone would complain about that, given how good their match at the Greatest Royal Rumble was. And once that’s done, it gets even better.

it makes for an interesting main event scene

For the purpose of this point, let’s assume Shinsuke Nakamura becomes WWE Champion. Let’s also assume he beats Styles in the rematch. What’s next for him?

Samoa “Samoa Joe” Joe is waiting in the wings. He, Styles, and Nakamura could absolutely tear down the house in triple threat action.

There’s also Daniel Bryan. It wouldn’t be hard at all to insert him into the WWE Championship picture. He is simply that over. I feel that Daniel Bryan v. Shinsuke Nakamura could be an absolutely great match.

And then there’s Randy Orton. It’s been almost a year since Orton’s last WWE Championship match, so it’s safe to put him back in, I think. The match he and Nakamura had was super great, and if they fought again on PPV, it could be even better.

Heck, just put Styles, Nakamura, Joe, Bryan, and Orton in one match and watch an absolute classic unfold right before your eyes. That match is money, I guarantee it.

it is a no disqualification match

That means unlimited dick punches. Nakamura’s got this in the bag.
