Edge and Christian open today’s show by speaking about the 2018 Hall of Fame inductees. They both think Goldberg is a very deserving headliner for this year’s class and Edge points out that Goldberg was a major reason why WCW won the ratings war 82 weeks in a row. Christian agrees, adding that Goldberg’s recent WWE run was very well done and he also really respects Goldberg as a person, specifically the way he treats children.

They also congratulate their good friends, The Dudley Boyz on their induction. They point out that Bubba and D-Von made a seamless transition from ECW to WWE during the attitude era, and went on to become one of the most decorated tag-teams of all time. They also feel that Ivory is a very deserving inductee given her lengthy career in the business, starting on the original GLOW series and then transitioning into WWE where she ushered in a new era for female talents.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge what was going through his mind right before he jumped through the flaming table in his infamous WrestleMania 22 match against Mick Foley. He says that he wasn’t thinking about a whole lot in that moment, other than regretting the fact that he didn’t wear a shirt. Foley, on the other hand had three shirts on in preparation of going through the flaming table.

Another listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian to name their favourite WrestleMania moment. Christian says winning the Tag Team Titles for the first time was an amazing experience, and Edge agrees entirely. Edge also points out that as a fan, he’ll never forget Hulk Hogan body-slamming Andre the Giant  at WrestleMania 3. Christian also mentions the shock factor of Lesnar defeating Undertaker a few years ago.

The next listener asks Edge and Christian who they thought they’d have great chemistry with in the ring, but it simply didn’t work out. Edge says that he and Eddie Guerrero really struggled to develop chemistry when they worked together early on. After a while they got to the pocket that they were searching for, and things went well. Christian says that he and Edge actually had some issues when they worked singles matches against each other shortly after breaking up as a tag team.

Edge and Christian talk about the “All In” show which will be promoted and ran by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks. Christian says it’s a very ambitious undertaking, but there’s nothing better than betting on yourself. Edge agrees, pointing out that those guys will certainly be stressed out but they’ll have lots of fun as well. He’s sure that this show will be a resounding success.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian if they have any good stories from house shows. Edge recalls being very sick at a house show one night when he was working a major angle with John Cena. They were wrestling in the main event that evening and Edge thought he was going to throw up in the middle of the match. As soon as he picked up the win he rolled to the outside of the ring, tucked his head under the ring apron and threw up everywhere.

Another listener asks Edge and Christian for their opinion on the state of WWE’s current tag team division. Edge thinks WWE’s current tag team division is quite good, and he doesn’t agree with the notion that most teams are just two singles wrestlers thrown together. Christian agrees with Edge, and feels that today’s tag division is the best it’s been since the attitude era.

Edge and Christian are asked about the idea of having a full-time female commentator on RAW or Smackdown’s commentary team. They both agree that it’s about time that WWE added a full-time female commentator, and they even tried it in the last few years with Renee Young working some NXT shows. They feel it’s just a matter of time before we see a female join the commentary booth.

A listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian if they think Paul Heyman would be a good fit with Ronda Rousey. Edge thinks this would be a terrific pairing and Christian agrees. Christian points out that Rousey might struggle on the mic for a while, and she’s also probably going to be booed by the WWE Universe after the initial excitement surrounding her arrival subsides. Heyman is the master of heel promos, so this would be a good fit.

Another listener writes into the show and asks Edge and Christian if they were ever concerned for their safety before specific matches. They both point out that the Elimination Chamber matches were always very intimidating because that structure is quite painful. Edge also adds that he knew there was a lot of risk involved in his infamous Hardcore match against Mick Foley at WrestleMania 22.

That sums up today’s episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
