As seen at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event, Ronda Rousey made her official arrival to WWE after Asuka won the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match.
WWE did their best at keeping her arrival a secret, however many were speculating of her involvement on the show once the company announced that the Women’s Royal Rumble match would be closing the show. According to PWInsider, very few people knew of Ronda’s arrival and she was not listed on any of the production sheets for the event. Ronda also wasn’t seen in the building until 10 seconds before she came out on stage. The word going around backstage after the show is that if you weren’t a McMahon or Kevin Dunn you had no idea she was going to come out.
In regards to her actually competing in The Rumble, WWE never had any plans to book her to physically complete in the match and the company wants to save that for WrestleMania. We reported earlier today that the plan is for Ronda to tag with a male WWE Superstar to take on Stephanie McMahon and Triple H at the show. Ideally they had The Rock in mind for her partner but they may not be able to secure him for the show, so they could always go with Braun Strowman. WWE did a spot at Survivor Series with Triple H and Strowman that they have not followed up with it yet, so that leaves that option open.
Speaking of Rousey, she wearing Roddy Piper’s signature jacket, which was gifted to her by his family after his passing several years ago.
