Russo is joined on today’s show by Big Vito.

Russo says he has just about had enough of social media. He’s sick of people spreading hate on Facebook and Twitter and he’s been blown away with the nerve of some people who’ve been attacking the President of the United States, Donald Trump. Vito agrees entirely and says that he and Russo were raised in a different era when they were taught to never disrespect the President, regardless of if you agree with his policies or not.

Vito says that things change in life all the time, sometimes for the worse, but spreading hate online accomplishes nothing. He says that he wakes up everyday wanting to be physical but he has terrible headaches and head issues stemming from his wrestling career that prevents him from wrestling or working a physical job. He doesn’t let this frustrate him to a point where he takes his anger out on others.

Russo says that he simply has to disengage from social media. He deleted his Facebook page recently after people began messaging his wife saying disrespectful things about him, and he didn’t want to put her through that any longer. He continued to use Twitter to promote his podcasts and to stay in contact with his fans, but after this weekend he has decided to disengage from all social media.

Over the weekend he tweeted out a video of an NXT match where a performer (who he didn’t even know, let alone mention by name) was doing a dangerous move. He was outspoken about urging these kids to stop taking unnecessary risks but then WWE Producer, Fit Finley responded to his tweet, attacking Russo and questioning his relevancy.

Russo was caught off guard by Finley’s comments and tweeted back at Finley, asking why he was attacked simply for having a differing opinion. Russo says that he doesn’t take these stances against dangerous moves because he’s bitter, he does it because he cares about the performers and he doesn’t want to see any of them get injured.

He mentions that there are ways that performers can get similar reactions from fans without taking half the risks, but for some reason today’s generation of Superstars are determined to kill themselves in the ring in the hopes of getting a “This is Awesome!” chant.

Vito agrees with Russo in saying that Finley’s comments were uncalled for, and he doesn’t think there’s any need for name calling just because two people have different opinions on a certain subject.

Russo has also been very honest about his struggle with depression over the last couple of years and for the most part people are very respectful of that. He’s even read messages from people who have been helped by his talks about depression, but this past weekend someone called him an idiot on Twitter for talking about these things and he’s had enough of it.

Vito says he’s sick of people spreading hate, and even on Russo’s The Brand recently Kenny ‘Starmaker’ Bolin has been using vulgar language. Vito guarantees that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated on The Brand and PodcastOne moving forward.

Vito recalls calling Russo and emailing him consistently for multiple days in a row without Russo answering him back. Days later Russo informed him that he’s struggling with depression and he wasn’t able to return phone calls or answer emails. Vito just wishes that Russo would have told him about his struggle with depression sooner.

Russo says that he’ll be on Russosbrand.com more often moving forward, and he plans on writing more blogs there, because he simply can’t deal with social media any longer.

That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
