Gilbertti thinks Neville is making a big mistake by walking away from his WWE contract. He admits that Neville might be able to make good money on the indie scene but it’s not guaranteed. Russo feels that Neville is one performer who can venture out on his own and still make a very good living on the indie scene.
Lane mentions that Wade Keller was quoted this past week, saying that poking fun of Mickie James’ age on WWE programming is sexist because WWE never makes fun of their male talents; age. Russo says that’s a lie because older male talents have been the butt of jokes in the past. Gilbertti thinks that Keller’s point is ludicrous, saying that it’s never going to be sexist to point out someone’s age.
Gilbertti continues by saying that Wade Keller’s opinions are ‘way off’ for the most part. Keller also recently said that talents shouldn’t yell while cutting promos, and Russo says that it’s been proven for 40 years that Keller’s opinion is very wrong in this case. Performers like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and countless others made a career of cutting high-energy promos.
Stephanie McMahon went on the record last week saying that 40% of WWE’s audience is female, so they often adjust certain storylines to please their female fan base. Gilbertti believes that the 40% figure is accurate because Total Divas has really helped WWE’s female viewership. In terms of this having an impact on storylines, Russo isn’t so sure that’s accurate because he can’t think of one storyline where this might have been the case.
