Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane.
A listener calls into the show and asks Russo about kayfabe. The caller says that kayfabe is obviously dead in 2017, but he wonders if Russo thinks it can ever be revived. Russo says that once the cat is out of the bag it’s impossible to ever put it back in.
Russo continues by saying that whether it’s a positive thing or a negative thing, a lot of the wrestlers backstage love gossip. It also only takes one or two performers backstage to stooge off finishes and tell secrets of the business and then it’s impossible to keep kayfabe alive. In this day and age Russo thinks it’s impossible to ever revive kayfabe.
Another listener calls into the show and asks Russo how he transitioned from being a writer in WWE to being an on-screen character in WCW. Russo says he didn’t really prepare for it at all and he just jumped right into it. He never wanted to be an on-screen character and even today he’d 100% rather be behind the camera writing and producing the action.
