He continues by saying since then Ellsworth has changed his opinion of him, and he feels that Ellsworth has taken the ball that WWE gave with him and ran with it. It’s a credit to Ellsworth that he has found a way to stay relevant on WWE programming and along with Enzo Amore, Ellsworth is one of the two guys who really makes Lawler miss commentating.
Ellsworth informs that it was initially Carmella’s idea for them to work together and Vince McMahon loved it right away. It’s been nearly 11 months now since their initial pairing and they’ve developed a great friendship. Lawler mentions that in today’s WWE 11 months is a very lengthy, successful program.
Lawler points out that Carmella’s former running mate Enzo Amore has reportedly ruffled some feathers backstage. Ellsworth says he has heard several stories about the heat Amore has backstage, but Amore has never been anything but kind to him.
Moore asks Ellsworth about his initial meeting with Vince McMahon. Ellsworth says that after his first match with Braun Strowman he walked back through the curtain and was told that McMahon wanted to speak with him. He walked towards the Gorilla position and McMahon met him there with a big smile, congratulating him on a job well done.
