Gilbertti says he’s been so disinterested in WWE’s product lately that he hasn’t watched wrestling in several weeks. Lane points out that Enzo Amore has been doing some great promo work, and he thinks Gilbertti would like it.
Russo points out that while Amore has been doing great work, 205 Live’s big debut last week was Kalisto. Gilbertti bursts into laughter and says it’s obvious that WWE doesn’t care about ratings. They just want to get through the shows each week and move on.
Lane informs that former WWE Superstar, Ahmed Johnson, spoke out recently, saying that he never knew he was booked to win his first Intercontinental Title. Vince McMahon sent Johnson and Goldust out to the ring to have that match without telling them which person was going to win and as the match was nearing the finish, the referree whispered in his ear that he was going over.
Gilbertti says that in all the years he spent in the wrestling business he never heard of something like that happening before. Russo says that he recalls that night and the writing team had Johnson booked to win for a while in advance. Perhaps McMahon wanted to keep that information from Johnson for some strange reason.
That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
