He fully admits that he probably would have never liked the idea of debuting a character such as ‘The Undertaker’, but obviously that worked out pretty well for WWE. For this reason, Bischoff made sure to never book or produce television based solely on his preferences.
Stephanie McMahon was at ESPN today when they announced the signing of Shayna Baszler, and she also mentioned that WWE has a standing offer in place for Ronda Rousey. Bischoff says that there’s probably still value in Rousey’s brand, but after being handily defeated during her last two fights she doesn’t have that cloak of invincibility surrounding her anymore.
He also points out that while Rousey may have been a dominant MMA competitor, she has never wrestled professionally before. Due to this, she’s going to have to learn the art of professional wrestling from the start just like every performer before her and that’s going to take some time.
Speaking about the passing of Lance Russell, Bischoff says he had the pleasure of working with Russell for a period of time in WCW. Russell’s voice was that of a legend, and he was such a genuinely nice person as well. He was sad to hear of Russell’s passing and he sends his condolences to the friends and family of Russell.
