Russo says that people shouldn’t be able to laugh at the business of professional wrestling and after watching Monday Night RAW each week, Russo knows that people are laughing. He points out that a 250lbs man would never call another 250lbs man a ‘coward’ in a real-life fight. He thinks the dialogue in today’s product is simply embarrassing.
Russo wonders why Vince McMahon feels the need to ‘dumb down’ today’s product. He’s alienating his audience by making them feel stupid when they should be challenging the viewers like Russo and the other writers did during the attitude era.
He says the problem today is that the writers/performers don’t respect the business the way veterans did. He says there’s one writer in WWE right now who reportedly follows Alexa Bliss around all day like a fan boy. There are also younger talents who have reportedly walked right past Kurt Angle in the Gorilla position as Angle was watching the monitors, studying the match in the ring.
Russo says that when someone the calibre of Angle still takes time to study and hone his craft, these young guys/gals should have the courtesy to do the same.
That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
