To say the work these teams are doing is phenomenal is no exaggeration. As previously mentioned the Uso’s have completely upped their already great game in 2017. The pair may have been stale through 2016 however that has been rectified. From in ring psychology and heel work to promo’s and entertainment value, the Uso’s have been MVP’s this year. The same must said for the New Day, although to a far lesser extent. Nevertheless the trio have remained fantastic to watch, entertaining as hell, over as rover and WWE’s top merch movers. On top of that there is the ever improving in ring work and psychology of the trio. All five men have worked hard to the extent that they deserve this history. All of this has came together in a perfect exemplification in this feud over the past 4 months.
And what a feud it has been. While it is valid to say it may have ran its course due to so many matches on live TV, all the matches have been excellent. From the sin city street fight to the random Smackdown Live encounter to the pre-show stopper/Summerslam match of the night, these teams prove themselves to be utterly fantastic with an unreal chemistry that just clicks the two teams together like they are two parts of a puzzle full of great rivals. The promo’s they perform, the segments they are a part of and the matches they have together are all phenomenal. The rap battle was one of the most entertaining segments of 2017. The mic work from both teams consistently keep fans hooked. And on top of that, in terms of in ring work these two teams have had the best feud of the year in WWE.
Now imagine that feud, that chemistry, that action in the Cell and tell me honestly that that is not a main event match. You cannot. This feud was begging for the Cell match and that much was answered. But after being stuck on the Summerslam pre-show and still stealing the whole show, the main event of Hell in a Cell is clamouring for these two teams to tear the house down one more time within its confines. The spots these men will be a part of are already enough to make the mouth water. WWE has had a hit and miss year in 2017 for main event PPV matches. Of all the matches on the Hell in a Cell card, this match will be a hit.
Not only do the 5 men involved, the fans and Smackdown Live in general benefit, so to do the titles. These two teams have did a good job at raising the stock of the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships. However, with a main event match on a PPV it will do absolute wonders. If somehow a more casual fan tunes into Hell in a Cell from home their last image will be of the Tag Titles and when WWE presents something as important, that thing becomes important in the eyes of fans. It will be a fantastic change of pace for the belts which have not made it to a top 4 PPV in 2017. From one extreme to the other, these two teams and the belts are made for the main event, not obscurity.
This is one of those rare events where having a main event like this feels right. It will be the best match. It is the best feud. And it is the end of a storied feud within the Cell. There are no losers in putting this match on last and it is without a doubt the best choice for the spot. These men will give this match their all and in the main event it would be no different. No other match will be of a calibre deserving of a main event spot. As mentioned previously there is an argument for McMahon Owens, but if you weigh up the potential of both matches it is a no brainer, The New Day vs The Uso’s should main event Hell in a Cell for the Smackdown Live Tag Team Championships.
