To say Mahal Nakamura has not been a great feud is to be extremely generous to the two men. While Nakamura could be one of WWE’s biggest stars, he will not get there via Jinder Mahal feud. Having these two open the show will simply, and I feel bad saying this, get it out the way. When Nakamura undoubtedly loses to Jinder again in an underwhelming match it will likely upset fans so there is no need to ruin what will hopefully be a memorable show – due to two matches – by having that be the last image be Nakamura on his back after a likely boring match with Jinder Mahal’s horrendous reign continuing. Add in the fact that the match is not a Hell in a Cell match – the PPV’s whole gimmick – it simply cannot main event.
The other Hell in a Cell match is one which is hard to argue against it being the main event. Owens and Shane McMahon have weaved a fantastic story with one another. It is fantastic to see Owens in the position of a star like he deserves. Their match at Hell in the Cell could go either way and should Owens go over this match would be the joint best choice or second best choice to close the show and there will be no arguments valid enough to say otherwise. The reason this match should not go on last does not lie in the match and story itself, but rather with just how much the Tag Title match should main event the show.
