Russo says that reuniting The Shield at this point is a huge failure for WWE. He says that The Shield was a great team but after they split up, WWE failed to get any of these guys over to a main event level. He says that Rollins was very close when he was Champion alongside Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, and he’s not sure how WWE managed to screw that up.
During the attitude era the creative team would pair up guys like Triple H and Shawn Michaels not out of necessity, but because it made for a better show. This reuniting of The Shield is a desperate move by WWE to bring some interest back to a failing product, and they should be embarrassed that they failed to turn either of these guys into a singles Superstar.
Russo says that he can’t believe WWE is sticking with the Bray Wyatt/Finn Balor storyline because this is a 4-month old program that nobody cares about. He can’t understand how Balor has more stock in this company than someone like Neville, because Neville has far more potential than Balor in his opinion.
He says that Enzo Amore has brought life to 205 Live with his outlandish character and his mic skills. This should prove to everyone that fake fights don’t sell, but good characters do. Russo assumes that Amore isn’t liked backstage because he speaks his mind, and that company wants you to be a robot without emotion.
