No Mercy 2017 is now in the history books, and it was a good event, that really should have been great. The two big matches at the top of the card had a Wrestlemania style feel to them, and the company were more than happy to sell the PPV as being something quite special. Did the card live up to the lofty expectations it had set for itself then? Well, yes and no. The undercard delivered with an array of consistent bouts, but the bigger matches didn’t really live up to their hype. Here’s my ranking of all 8 matches that took place at No Mercy.
8: Neville Vs Enzo Amore: Cruiserweight Championship
Neville’s run as Cruiserweight champion has been one of the strongest things on WWE television this year, and while the division as a whole is struggling, Neville has managed to keep the whole thing afloat single-handedly. His reward for his months of hard work? An embarrassing defeat at the hands of Enzo Amore.
Enzo’s current booking is bizarre. His backstage heat has clearly led to his current place on the roster, so why give him the title? My only thought is that they are trying to make him even more unlikable than he is. The whole situation just seems a bit backwards in going forwards.
