Rhodes says that he felt like a lot of WWE officials still looked at him like a 19-year old child, even though he was one of the most experienced veterans in their locker room at the end of his run there. Jericho believes the old school promoter in Vince McMahon probably respected Rhodes’ decision to leave at this point to try to build his brand elsewhere.
The fact that Rhodes didn’t do anything stupid prior to leaving WWE tells Jericho that the door will be open for him there again in the future. Rhodes agrees and says that prior to leaving he really wanted to punch one of the writers in the face, and was even planning out how he was going to do it. He says you should never be in a spot where you’re angry enough to punch someone in the face, and he’s glad he didn’t do it.
Rhodes says that working with Christopher Daniels for the ROH Championship was a pleasure. That was a very special night for him in spite of the fact that he was busted open 2 minutes into the match and had to celebrate his victory at the hospital while he was being stitched up.
He says that his father, Dusty Rhodes, told him to leave WWE after WrestleMania in Miami because he knew that Cody was treading water at that time. Rhodes thinks his father would be very proud of him, and happy for the success he has had since leaving WWE.
