Professional wrestling journalist Bill Apter calls into the show and says he predicts that Funk and his two partners, the Rock N’ Roll Express, will defeat Lawler and his two partners next weekend because Funk seems determined to really hurt Lawler.
Lawler obviously doesn’t agree with Apter’s opinion in this case, but he admits that Apter is one of his longest standing friends in the business. He says that Apter was the one who initially set him up with Andy Kauffman, and everyone knows how important that turned ou to be for Lawler’s career, and for the business of professional wrestling in general.
Lawler also points out that Apter was very good to Memphis Wrestling in his wrestling newsletter back in the day. There was no internet back then and without Apter’s publications, Lawler is unsure if Memphis Wrestling would have ever established the reach that they did.
That sums up today’s episode of Dinner with the King. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
