Every time it is announced that a major WWE superstar is going to feud with Shane McMahon, the IWC let out a collective sigh. While Shane is a great on-screen personality, he is not a wrestler, not one who should get such high-level feuds, anyway. Then, it turns out to be great. Okay, so his match with The Undertaker was pretty woeful, but his match with AJ Styles at Wrestlemania, in the eyes of many fans, actually stole the show.
His recent feud with Kevin Owens has been excellent and last week’s segment with Vince McMahon was the best thing involving Owens since The Festival of Friendship. Owens is a great talent and last week it finally felt the WWE was going to allow him to be the excellent character we all know he is.
Owens should be able to carry Shane to a great match at Hell in a Cell, but the storyline can’t really just end there. Shane has been suspended as commissioner, for the time being, but story-line wise, it wouldn’t make much sense if he just returned to television straight after what we can assume will be a loss at Hell in a Cell. If that is the case, then the WWE will want to bring in an on-screen replacement for a brief period most likely. So who could be the best option to replace Shane on Tuesday nights? Let’s take a look at five potential replacements for Shane McMahon.
Lana
Since splitting with Rusev, Lana’s solo career in the WWE has been a bit of a failure. Her title matches with Naomi proved that she was not capable in the ring, and her current run with Tamina just isn’t really capturing the imagination.
Lana is an excellent character, she has an obvious visual appeal and she is great on the mic. The fans love her and it’s about time the WWE realised that. Her popularity with the fans also means the company could have in charge as either a heel or a face, and with the appointment likely only being temporary, this could give her character the boost it so desperately needs.
