Block 1:
Taz opens today’s show by talking about last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW.
He predicted weeks ago that Asuka’s main roster debut would occur on RAW, and it appears that prediction was correct. Taz likes this decision because he feels it would have been a bad idea to have two major stars on the same brand who didn’t speak English as their first language. With Nakamura already wrestling on Smackdown Live, it’s smart to put Asuka on RAW.
Taz faced some criticism for his comments last week, when he offered an opinion on Asuka’s main roster debut. He feels that WWE should strongly push Asuka’s winning streak leading up to her first main roster match, and then book her to lose her first match on the main roster which would be a huge ‘shock and awe’ moment.
Some people criticized this suggestion, but Taz doesn’t think they heard his full explanation. He isn’t suggesting that Asuka simply lose for the sake of losing. Rather, he thinks it’s essential for WWE to promote her winning streak in advance if they plan on booking her to lose her first match on the main roster in order to emphasize how shocking that moment will be.
Taz finds fault in the recent booking of Jason Jordan. While he wasn’t entirely against Jordan working competitive matches against former World Champions like Roman Reigns and John Cena, he thinks this is an old school approach to getting a babyface over. He doesn’t think this old school approach will work for Jordan in this day and age.
