Con: Lesnar’s Rub Will Go to a Heel
This is not a negative in and of itself, but issues will arise should Lesnar be vanquished by Braun. Obviously a heel should be built up for a face to dethrone him. Lesnar’s been fed so many people (Cena, Orton, Ambrose, etc.) that whoever defeats him will get a huge boost. If a heel beats him, what’s next?
The cycle of feeding will continue until there’s no one credible left. If Strowman is defeated too soon, the boost will go to waste, and no one will benefit from it. Sure, you beat the guy who beat Brock, but if he’s made to look like a fool, you won’t look much better.
If WWE does play it right, then a lot of people will benefit from it, but it’s highly unlikely that that’s happening.
Pro: It Will Make Strowman a Star
Everyone says the man makes the title, not the other way around. Jinder Mahal is living proof of that. However, sometimes the title is essential in solidifying someone as a top-tier player. Think Batista, who captured the World Heavyweight Championship and shot right into the stratosphere. Sure, his and Strowman’s stories are not the same, but I believe the end results will be. Batista became synonymous with the Big Gold Belt, and if WWE plays their hand right, they can make Strowman synonymous with the Big Red Belt.
A solid Universal Title reign from Strowman will cement him as one of the top players and ensure that once he loses, he won’t just slip down the card. It breathes new life into the title scene, and could potentially create another star. If the right man defeats slays the monster, he will be a made man.
