Lane thought the main event between Big Show and Braun Strowman was good but he points out that nobody expected Big Show to win. Big Show has basically become a ‘main event jobber’, and he thinks this hurts any big match that features Big Show. Russo doesn’t disagree, but he thought this match served it’s purpose nonetheless.
Getting into his Smackdown Live analysis, Russo thought it was hilarious that Nakamura referred to the Title as the ‘WW Title’ in his pre-taped promo, and WWE let it air. Lane points out that other than Michael Cole, nobody on WWE programming can say ‘WWE’ effectively. It’s such as strange phenomenon.
Russo really liked the in-ring promo between Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens. He liked the ‘real’ feel that accompanied the dialogue, and Shane’s attack was very well done as well. This story was continued in the backstage area as the show progressed, and Russo really liked that they actually had a running thread throughout the show.
Russo thought the Dolph Ziggler segment was absolutely terrible. He has no idea what WWE is trying to do with Ziggler right now but whatever it is, it’s not working. Russo points out that the lady who accompanied Ziggler during his Macho Man parody is the wife of former WWE Superstar Eugene.
