As seen on Wednesday’s episode of NXT, WWE aired the footage of Asuka relinquishing the NXT Women’s Championship title that was taped a few weeks back at Full Sail University.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio that he doesn’t believe that the winner of the Mae Young Classic would be receiving the NXT Women’s Championship because William Regal said that he would be “thinking it over” for the next several weeks. Meltzer said that there were plans at one point that the winner would receive the championship, however he doesn’t believe that’s the case anymore.
Meltzer said plans can always change and they could award the winner of the tournament but also indicated that it’s very unlikely at this point.
