Russo says he put his career ahead of his family for a lot of years, specifically when he worked in the wrestling business. He missed a lot of family events, and he pays for that every day now. He says he regrets the decisions he made during that time.
Russo is not bitter about his own history with WWE, he’s bitter about the fact that there are a number of people working for WWE right now that are making all the same mistakes that he did 20 years ago. In a number of years, those people will also look back and realize that Vince McMahon didn’t care about them, and they’re going to regret ever putting WWE ahead of their family in the first place.
Russo can’t believe that WWE is going to go live on Christmas Day this year. He says that while McMahon might consider December 25th to be just another day on the calendar, that’s a very important family day for the majority of human beings.
As far as the notion that this order came from USA Network, Russo thinks that’s a lie. He says he was in the pits with McMahon during the Monday Night War, and nobody tells McMahon what to do. He says McMahon could push back against USA Network on behalf of his employees if he really cared about them, but he obviously doesn’t.
