Bischoff adds that a lot of babyfaces on the roster at that time were upset at the fact that NWO continued to go over them, and none of them were getting receipts. Bischoff says the goal at that time was to build the NWO beyond belief, and although the babyfaces were going to eventually get their receipts, it didn’t have to happen right away. This was not sitting well with Flair, Anderson and a lot of other performers.
A listener writes into the show and asks Bischoff if WCW ever considered putting sponsors on Superstar outfits. Bischoff says they did it a little bit with SlimJim, but they never embraced it fully. He says that those types of sponsorships have to fit well with your product or brand because if they don’t it sends a mix message to fans.
Bischoff says that if he was WWE, he wouldn’t entertain the idea of having Jon Jones take on Brock Lesnar in a WWE ring. He says that a brand’s message needs to mean more than making a few bucks, and WWE would be making a huge mistake here if they embraced someone who has been caught taking performance enhancing drugs on multiple occasions.
That sums up today’s episode of Bischoff on Wrestling. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya next week for another recap!
