Block 3:
Taz shares his thoughts on JBL’s resignation from Smackdown Live’s commentary team.
He says that he heard some rumblings over a year ago that JBL was considering stepping away from the commentary booth, long before the ‘issues’ with Mauro Ranallo. He thinks it’s great that at JBL’s age, he can step away from the wrestling business and do some great things in the World. He really wishes that some people would let a professional like JBL step away from the business in a professional way, without turning it into a dramatic situation.
Taz adds that several fans have tweeted and messaged him, saying that he should replace JBL on the Smackdown Live commentary team. He says that he’s in WWE’s rear view mirror, and WWE is in his rear view mirror as well. He’s basically 100% sure that WWE will not be calling to offer him that job, and he’s fine with that because he’s very happy right now.
He thinks he can still get the talent over and do it better than anyone currently employed by WWE; that’s how confident he is in his own abilities. However, he doesn’t really feel like being micro-managed in his ear night after night or travelling every single week. He’s confident that he could call the main event of WrestleMania tomorrow night if he had to, but he’d need to be handsomely compensated to return to WWE at this point.
